Michael Clifton

After more than two decades as a lawyer practicing almost exclusively in the field of condominium law for developers, managers, boards, and owners of condominiums in Ontario, Michael has retired from regular legal practice (as of December 31, 2025) and now works as a mediator, adjudicator, and consultant with a particular focus on condominium-related disputes and drafting/interpretation of condominium governing documents. Michael is also a member and vice-chair of the Condominium Authority Tribunal, where he has been employed since its formation in 2017. Michael has written numerous articles and taught extensively on condominium law and related matters, testified as an expert witness in court in relation to condominium management, and has been a court-appointed condominium administrator. He is a past president of the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI) – Golden Horseshoe Chapter, one of the original advocates for the creation of CCI’s Grand River Chapter, and is a former member of CCI’s National Executive Board.
